The Great Custard Cream Robbery is the fifth episode of the eighth series of The Dark Railway Series.

Plot[]

It is a Sunday morning on the Dark Railway, and the line is closed for maintenance work. Mr. B, stationed at Galen Juncton, is suddenly hijacked by Zeke Dark, who has stolen one of Mr. Chairman's custard cream biscuits, much to the anger and chagrin of Chairman.

Whilst Zeke and Mr. B make their escape, Mr. Chairman enlists Allan (who is stationed at the Junction as well) to help him chase down the runaways. A longwinded and overly cinematic chase ensues up the line, with Chairman almost catchng Zeke near Merecombe, and Allan breaking the fourth wall on Walschurch Viaduct. Once they reach Merecombe, Zeke runs away with Chairman in hot pursuit. Allan suggests that he and Mr. B get a drink, but Mr. B reminds him that they have no drivers, dissapointing Allan.

  • The episode utilises a lot of new editing tools and special effects. Dark has admitted that this episode was essentially "A fun test of the new editing tools" avaliable to him.
  • When the two engines cross Walschurch Viaduct, Allan makes a reference to a Robot Chicken episode featuring Thomas the Tank Engine, where Percy says a similar line to Thomas during a chase scene.
  • The closing credits forshadow the following episode.
  • The intro for the episode features a remix of the usual title music ("Dark DJ - 9") with a royalty free track called "The Drive" by Kevin MacLeod.
