Colin and the Coaches is the third episode of the second series of The Dark Railway Series.

Plot[]

Dai is feeling worn out, so Mr. Dark sends him to the works to be mended. He returms a few weeks later, and the improvements stop the other engines teasing him. Meanwhile, a new tank engine named Colin arrives on the railway, quickly getting on well with all of the engines.

One day, Mr. Dark comes to Colin asking him to pull a passenger train between Soma and Galen Junction. Having never pulled a passenger train before, Colin agrees and heads to the Junction. As he waits in the station, a large diesel pulls up next to him and tells him he belongs in a scrapyard. Colin ignores him, and departs the station, only to discover that he has left his coaches behind!

Embarrassed, Colin returns to the station, and the diesel laughs at him before leaving. He is coupled up to the train and this time manages to pull it all the way to Soma. That evening, the other engines, who have heard it all from Dave, laugh at him, except for Dai. Dai assures Colin that it wasn't his fault, and that such an incident has occurred with him several times already, cheering Colin up.
